PRINCIPAL, Mr Sammy Chemoiwa I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology. The Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) was established in 1979 with a mandate to conduct training in technical and vocational education at tertiary level. It is located in serene environment conducive for learning, just 10 kilometres West of Nakuru Town along Nakuru-Njoro road, Nakuru County, in the former Rift Valley Province.

The Institute is the brainchild of the leaders and people of Rift Valley Province led by His Excellency Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi CGH, the Second President of the Republic of Kenya who had a vision to set up an institution that would promote the advancement of education and development in the region. Through their effort they were able to mobilize funds by way of generous contributions from communities and people of the Province through the spirit of Harambee. This led to the establishment of a fully fledged Technical Institute which has played a significant role in education of youths, contributing in creation of employment in both the public and private sector spurring development in the region.

The main Mandate of RVIST is to promote advancement of education and development in the region and the country at large through training at tertiary level in Technical, Applied Sci­ences and Business Studies. RVIST is ISO 9001:2015 Certified BOARD OF GOVERNORS The Board of Governors operating under the Ministry of Education governs the institution. The BOG is also involved in resource mobilization towards development activities of the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST).

Currently the Board is under the very able Chairmanship of Mr. Harun Bomet. The day-to-day operations are coordinated by the Chief Principal, Mr. S. K. Chemoiwa. The internal administrative structure is organized as follows:- The Principal / BOG Secretary The Deputy Principal – Administration The Deputy Principal – Academic Affairs The Registrar The Dean of Students The Finance Officer Management Representative Heads of Departments Heads of Sections Curriculum Implementation The Institute has two campuses offering both full-time and part-time in a wide range of courses in Higher Diploma, Diploma, Certificate as well as Tailor-made courses and Consultancies.  These courses are designed to provide the requisite knowledge and skills to empower the youth and contribute to National Development.

There are 9 admitting Departments namely; Agricultural Education and Extension Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering Building and Civil Engineering Health and Applied Sciences Electrical and Electronics Information Communication Technology Liberal Studies Hospitality and Tourism Studies Entrepreneurship and Business Studies.
